North up the Californian Coast

And we were off up the coast to Portland, Oregon.

For a while we were traveling on Route 1, a stunning road that follows the coast.

A brief stop for a magnificent pose

Grand Redwoods

We stayed in Eureka, CA next to this house. It reminded us of FIght Club.

And we arrived in Portland, and it was good.We stayed with Erin's friends who took us in off the cold hard streets for a couple nights.

We naturally stopped in at Bluestar Donuts for hard apple cider fritters
and cointreau creme brulee donuts for breakfast.

We visited the offices of Panic, a software developer based in Portland and got to see the skyline on their roof.

This was their "Founder's Room"

This is the largest independent book store in the USA. It was large for sure.

The Portland Botanical Gardens

One of the first stops of our ice cream mission. We challenged ourselves to find
a local ice cream place everywhere we stopped on our trip. This place, Salt and Straw, was one of the best.

The central square.
